Mice are more commonly found in Sacramento homes then rats are. Local house
mice usually weigh less that an ounce and are rarely found more than 3 inches long
(not including the tail). Mice can eat may things that are found around most homes
including grains, cereals, sugary foods and meal crumbs. Mice are able to get most of
the water that they need from the food that they consume so it is not very common for
a mouse to look for puddles of water or to search out water in general.

Mice become sexually mature in about 1.5 months time and over the course of a year
the average female mouse will give birth to between 35-50 baby mice. This can
obviously be a serious problem for homeowners because clearly if not halted mice
can take over a home.

Each mouse will have it's own nest, this nest will be made up of shredded paper,
furniture cushion or fabric. The nests can be found all over the house, in attics,
basements, walls, garages, and ceilings. They also like to nest in enclosed areas such
as boxes or bags.

Mice eat a lot for their size. The average house mouse in Sacramento will be able to
eat about a 1/10th of an ounce of food a day. This may not seem like much but when
you realize that this amount represents 10% of a mouse's weight it puts it in a new
perspective.
